In 2010, my first son was born, I finished my MBA, and joined the retirement plan sales desk at Merrill Lynch.

Here's how those 3 events have shaped the last 15 years.

My son is a freshman in high school and has taught me how experiences small and large can shape a person's life.

My MBA has taught me how the convergence of several subjects can make or brake a small or large business....(remember when Bank of America bought Merrill?).

My job on the sales desk laid the groundwork for a successful career where I learned the small plans are just as important as the large ones.

Finally, small or large, the deposits in my personal 401(k) savings plan have really added up, shaped my financial life, and provided me confidence in a secure retirement.

What things (small or large) have influenced your life over the last 15 years?
