I've been in the retirement plan industry since 2004.
Here is one thing every advisor can do to find a plan; but surprisingly, no one does.
Look at their existing book of business.
Make a list of each business owner client or client in the C-Suite at their employer.
Don't forget the consultants, side gigs, and client's on boards of directors.
Next to their name, write the name of the business.
Have a trusted recordkeeping wholesaler or Third Party Administrator (TPA) search 5500's.
Form 5500 is an annual public filing posted on the DOL's efast website.
Once plans are or are not identified, rank your list from top to bottom.
The top being the easiest conversation to get and the bottom being the toughest.
Bring your trusted partner in to help support you on the conversation.
Too busy?
Have a junior advisor or assistant pull together the list and tee it up for you.
No one does this, I'm serious.
Have you?
