An Oak Tree's Surprisingly Simple Advice About Weathering Storms

As an energy healer and medium, I regularly talk with trees. They have wisdom and stories to share with humankind to ease our suffering.

Last night, we had a tornado warning. I wondered how trees feel about these storms. The wisdom it shared wasn't what I expected.

As humans, we naturally seek shelter from storms. Here in the Midwest, our basement is the refuge for the regular tornado warnings and strong storms. Watching the winds whip through the trees turned my thoughts to them. What about everything that's outside?

I decided to ask the beautiful Bur Oak in our yard how it felt about the storm.

I stood in the yard as the sky was getting dark, and asked the tree:

How do you feel about storms like this? Are they scary for you?

Oh no! The wind brings me information about what's going on in the world, and makes me stronger. The rain nourishes me and helps me grow, just as the sun does.

I thought of branches that fall off. But you lose pieces of yourself, I said.

Yes, but those are the parts that are weaker anyway. I become stronger when they fall off.

I was impressed with the wisdom of the tree. How easily it seemed to accept these lessons that are so much more difficult for humans. Embrace the rain and the wind. Let go of what's not needed. How much easier it is to weather the storms when we can appreciate the blessings they bring.
