PPT gets a bad rep when it comes to presentations. We’ve all sat through tedious talks with text heavy slides.

But knowing what you are doing with the software can save you a bunch of time and effort.

⚫ B & W

Got a question from the audience you want to answer without them being distracted by the screen? Or maybe you just want them to focus on you for a bit, give them a focus change.

Hit B on a keyboard to get a black blank screen or hit W to get a white blank screen.

(Beware - a bright white screen can be more distracting than the original slide.)​

🔤 Use Slide Master to change the font on all slides

Changing all the fonts on a set of slides can be fiddly and annoying.

Go to View - Slide Master - Fonts - Customize Fonts to change all the fonts in your PowerPoint at once.​

©️ Use Slide Master to add logos to all slides

Quickly add a logo (or any other consistent element) to all your slides by dropping it in the top level slide in Slide Master.

Click Close Master View to get back to your slideshow.

🔗 Invisible hyperlink buttons

Add invisible buttons to your slide show if you think you are going to want to show websites or bring in interactive elements like polling software.

Simply add a box that is the same colour as the background, right click - hyperlink - enter the url you want.

For bonus points you can use this to link to other slides meaning you can jump around the deck depending on what the audience want to talk about... Just remember where you put the buttons.
