Cameroon just hosted the Africa Cup of Nations Soccer competition (AFCON).

Although they did not win the competition, the Cameroonian Football Team is one of the most popular soccer teams in Africa.

How did they achieve their popularity?

•They are known for their unique style of play and their ability to compete with some of the best national teams in the world.

•The team has qualified seven times for the FIFA World Cup more than any other African team (in 1982, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2014

•They were the first African team to reach the quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup in 1990, losing to England in extra time.

•They have also won five AFCON and Olympic gold in 2000

The next FIFA World Cup takes place in Qatar in November 2022. Let’s hope Cameroon qualifies!
