As promised, details of the 3 text editors I use on a daily basis:
BBEdit, Sublime Text, and CotEditor
Each of these editors offers a distinct experience tailored to various writing and coding requirements.
BBEdit is a powerhouse of text editing. It's been around since 1992 and continues to innovate today. It's perfect for complex projects and tasks that need automated processing applied to the text.
Sublime Text is lightning-fast and its multiple cursors, split editing, and extensive package ecosystem make it a flexible environment for every text related project. The ability to tweak every aspect of the editor, from keybindings to themes, ensures I have access to exactly what I need, when I need it. The Preferences aren't for the faint-hearted though!
CotEditor is open-source, and perfect for those times when all you need is simplicity and a clutter-free interface. That doesn't mean it's not feature rich. It's an elegant writing and coding environment with essential features like syntax highlighting, auto-completion, and an integrated outline view.
And with CotEditor all of this is completely FREE
For me it goes like this: BBEdit for automation and scripted text manipulation, Sublime Text for manual text manipulation with multiple cursors and CotEditor for lighter text editing jobs that don't need the same level of raw power.
