I wouldn't call myself an expert in JavaScript, but I love being immersed in it and creating code and customer site features using this tech language.

I have spent years reading and learning about JavaScript and still have not touched the surface. That's how it feels to me, anyway. And I have spent considerable time practising JavaScript and applying my skill to enhance my customers' WordPress websites, above and beyond the basic out-of-the-box builds.

Here's how I first got interested in JavaScript:

I am creative. I am a designer, first and foremost, with a graphic design background. I go back a long way to marker pens and paper, pre-desktop publishing and the groundbreaking macintosh ( as they were called back then ( those of us of the right vintage will know what I am talking about ) ).

I am not academic; I didn't take computer studies at school ( even though I wanted to ( thanks to my parents, I was discouraged ) ), and I struggled with maths. So not the ideal candidate for anything programming and code related, I hear you say. You are right. Hence my interest. I was attracted to the challenge and the fascination of what JavaScript can create in the web development world. I was creating solutions for customers using WordPress, and I wanted to do more for them. So I jumped in!

My nature is to push myself into areas I don't feel easy in, and this was ideal for me. I wanted to join the clever club 🥹😵‍💫 and be able to hold my own and talk JS with the 'cool' developers that are writing this stuff with their eyes closed. So my journey began...

My goal over the next year is:

I aim to develop a new portfolio of JavaScript code and steer my business services into the JavaScript and React space. I want to move away from WordPress, where I currently reside with my business and revenue, and establish myself as a JavaScript / UI ( User Interface ) developer. My current customers will remain in my care until they wish to develop their services when their time is right.

Having a genuine excitement for the core activity of what gives me my living is the ultimate life win. I feel privileged to have found a deep passion and desire to master JavaScript and create value for new business customers in the near future.
