I love coaching. Since 1998, I’ve coached Basketball, Softball, Soccer, Track & Field, and Science Olympiad. In 2015, when I started to create courses online, I also saw coaches working online.
And since I love coaching sports, I was curious about what coaches did online.
Who were they coaching?
What were they coaching?
Why were they coaching?
Since I wanted to know more, a friend recommended the book, The Prosperous Coach, by Steve Chandler and Rich Litvin. First, I listened to the book and then I read it. While my coaching experience is not what is discussed in the book, it’s a book I could read over and over again. Because as a teacher, as an educator, I see my role mixed in with coaching and mentoring.
If you’re a coach or want to be a coach, I recommend you read this book
Quote #1: "Coaching is a good profession for people who are genuinely devoted to making a difference in the lives of others."
Quote #2: "When someone sees the world differently, they show up differently, and they create results that looked impossible a moment before. That is a miracle."
Quote #3: "Don’t even refer to working together. Contribute and serve. You don’t need them; they need you. Behave accordingly."
If you’ve read the book, let me know your thoughts.
If you end up reading this book, let me know what you think.
