“Everybody who thinks they can write. I would like to kick their ass”.
–Steven Pressfield in a Podcast.
Why did he say it ?
Because a lot of people think they can write.
But they neglect the fact that along the way they’ll come across
Not just the lack of ideas
Not just constant competition
Not even grabbing the reader's attention
But…
The Self-sabotage
The Resistance
The Doubt
Like…
Is it a dumb Idea?
Will anyone read it?
Is it interesting?
All these thoughts would arise when you’d sit down to write which will eventually lead you towards distraction & above mentioned obstacles.
Results –You quit
But, how can you overcome these thoughts and not fall in this loophole?
To become a writer who’s praised and is read by many you’ll have to have ‘A Strong Mindset’
And How Would You Achieve That ??
Set Clear Goals (Write your goal and put it where you can see it)
Practice Self-Discipline (Set a timer and then work)
Push yourself outside of your comfort zone. (Do the hardest task first thing in the morning)
Developing a strong mindset doesn’t happen overnight. Be patient with yourself and stick to the process. The key is persistence, even when things get tough.
