You don’t start with a book.
Or a podcast.
Or a new journal (although I own eleven and still believe one of them will save me).
You start with three quiet, radical skills:
Say no without apology.
Not the kind of 'no' that comes with guilt or excuses. Rather the kind of 'no' that simply says 'no' emphatically and possibly with a 'thank you' (I am British after all). That’s you establishing and protecting your boundaries.
Track your energy, not your time.
Whatever your experience has been, it will have depleted you. Develop a different relationship with momentum. Notice when you feel most alive, and build your day around that.
Celebrate small wins like they’re big ones.
Because sometimes the win is putting on a bra, opening the scary envelope, or writing 250 wobbly, wonderful words. That’s not small. That’s survival. That’s progress.
This is a time to take stock and learn more about yourself with honesty and with gentleness - start to notice what works for you and don't be afraid to lean into it, whatever it may be.
