Why Seeking recognition could be destroying your career
Gabriel Rodrigues 🚢

Throughout our professional career, we get involved in a lot of things that we don't like and want to do, and most of the time we do that because we want to be recognized by our boss, peers, clients and friends.

This need for external recognition can be the downfall of your career and one of the best ways to have an unhappy life.

We often project our insecurities and flaws, hoping something that has nothing to do with the problem will cure it. But in the end, this recognition is nothing more than a temporary relief, and will make you even more unhappy as time goes by. But there's a solution to that.

“It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit” - Harry Truman.

Instead of caring what other people will think and the credit you will take, just think about how to get things done on the best way possible. Don't care about what others think about you, work for the sake of getting things done.

The result will surprise you, it is sincere and true recognition, and not in a way that make you restless for more or insecure. It will come with a peaceful heart, on how you did your best and you wouldn't change a thing, and the things on your way will become nothing more than a step you need to take and learn.
