The 3 books that have helped me learn how to learn
Harvey Drummond

I have been interested in self-development for a while now.

But I realised very quickly I didn't know how to learn, so I consumed as much information as I could on learning, these are the 3 best books I read:

Make it Stick by Henry L. Roediger III, Mark A. McDaniel, and Peter C. Brown

This book gives the three most important ways of learning, active recall, spaced repetition, and interleaving. In the book the authors break down what these tools are, the scientific studies that show they work, and most importantly the techniques you can use to enhance your learning.

Limitless: Upgrade Your Brain, Learn Anything Faster, and Unlock Your Exceptional Life by Jim Kwik

Jim Kwik's story by itself is so moving. As a young boy, he suffered a severe brain injury which made it difficult for him to remember or concentrate. During his childhood, one of his teachers said he was "the boy with a broken brain", he is now considered one of the best brain coaches in the world. This book is full of so many helpful frameworks, Jim has a great way of explaining techniques clearly, so you can use them straight away.

The 4 Hour Chef by Tim Ferris

Tim Ferris is the person who started me on my journey of self-discovery. His was the first podcast I ever listened to and I have read all his books. The 4-Hour Chef is by no means his most popular book, but I believe it contains foundational information about how to learn. Packed with helpful insights and techniques, Tim is a lifelong learner and his framework for learning is outlined in this book.

These people have taught me so much—and, just like they did with me, I hope to pass along my learnings to the next person. So if you are looking to add new skills or learn something new, start with one of these books so you have the tools to learn effectively.
