There are a lot of books about the Future.
But the best book to read if you want a glimpse of our future's "end game"—the Singularity—would be the new book by Ray Kurzweil, The Singularity is Nearer.
For a few reasons:
Reason #1: Ray Kurzweil has one of the best track record for tracking and predicting the technological progress towards our future. Especially in AI, and Longevity.
Reason #2: Stretches the imagination of most people who can't see what is coming in our future. Teaches you how to see the exponential changes based on real data of our technological progresses.
Reason #3: How things are getting exponentially better!
Reason #4: Clear warnings of perils to avoid.
Reason #5: Ultimately a positive and aspirational vision of humanities end game.
If you are at all interested in how our future will unfold, I can't recommend this book enough.
It is quite long, and goes in very deep. perhaps we need a Singularity for kids book. I will unpack some of my learnings.
(if you've read it, do you agree? What other book would you recommend for beginners?)
