Welcome to my Social Blog

By Soumyajeet Roy.

So, this is the first time I have taken any virtual tour and ahead in this article, I will share my experience from the virtual tour taken via the medium of Google arts & culture.

The moment I clicked on the yellow button I began my tour and it was quite an experience I must say. So, the very first thing that I saw was a Buddha statue and it followed some details about the life of the buddha.

The name of the piece was “Buddha in Dhyanmudra” after that I saw more sculptures and statues of lord buddha and got to know some interesting facts about all of them.

As the Indian museum, Kolkata is the oldest and the largest museum in the whole Asia Pacific region I am now very interested to visit there physically as well.

Let alone the virtual experience is something that I recommend to all whoever is interested in arts because Google provides some links to other platforms as well where the user can go and find more authentic details and facts about the piece they are looking at.

As in my case when I was looking at the “Buddha in Dhyanmudra” simultaneously

I was given the option to jump on other pages on the internet which are related to that particular piece of art.

Moving on, the next piece that I saw was “Sadasiva” which was again something that spiked my attentiveness in it, and it has a personal reason attached to it.

And the reason is that I belong to Varanasi, and everyone knows that Varanasi is the city of Shiva. So, anything related to Lord Shiva catches my attention real quick

I enjoy reading and learning about Shiva and try to do as much as possible.

One more thing that I liked about this virtual tour is that it provides you with loads of information be it the facts about the art piece or about the whole museum.

And while reading all of that information you can be really-really sure that all of that is correct and 100% authentic as it is coming from Google itself and sources from the database of the museum, which is something I am sure everyone struggles with when doing a physical tour.

To sum it up, this virtual tour was really insightful to me, and thanks to Srithi who actually gave it to me as an assignment but now sure I will recommend this to everyone.
