Is now the time to quit my 9 to 5 job?

You have probably thought about life without your 9 to 5 job. How much freedom you could enjoy, not having to answer to anyone (if your married that's not exactly the case), what you could be doing with those hours instead.

Its might seem like a no brainer to leave your job for better pursuits but here's a few things I think you should do first.

Figure out what you want to do

I took a year off from work, at the time my mindset was not set on replacing my job but I got to see what happens when you don't have a plan. I was pursuing things that interested me but not like the way I am today and even now I have come to realize that it is a marathon and not a sprint. When you build towards your future while still working the pressure is off, to pay bills, force things to work, and to be in a hurry. You get a chance to experiment and make mistakes without the added pressure of I need this to work, its almost the end of the month and rent is due. Finding out what you like to do and that makes you money can be a combination of things. As you try different things a clearer picture will emerge of your likes and dislikes and you will start to carve out a unique path for yourself.

Its taken me 2 years

Now I don't know exactly what your timeframe will look like if you are looking to quit your 9 to 5 and become an entrepreneur but for me its been about 2 years and I still feel like I have a lot to learn. I want to say up until this point It's been more work on changing my old belief system, the way I think and am wired. This is a must because in order to get to where you want to be you have to leave where you are and that's your thinking, what you know now got you here but it wont get you to where you want to go you have to expand your mind frame.

There is a lot to learn before you decide to leave your 9 to 5 job, a lot of question that should be answered if you want to start on the right foot and not regret your decision. This decision will potentially effect the rest of your life so take your time, don't be so hard on yourself, and enjoy the journey.
