According to Jordan Peterson:
"The purpose of life is to find a mode of being so meaningful that the fact that life's suffering itself is no longer relevant."
Luckily, finding this "mode" anyone can do.
You just have to know where to start.
So here are his first 3 steps you can take to get clear on your life.
First, VOLUNTARILY accept that life IS suffering and MAKE the decision.
Life is the ultimate challenge. There is no reason to do anything (Assuming you haven't adopted a meaning yet). So really it is a decision. And so, instead of pondering the meaning of life — choose YOUR option:
You're either going to give in, give up, or give it EVERYTHING you absolutely got.
How you do anything is how you do everything.
Clear your conscience.
You justify your existence once you clear your conscience. This is better than searching for happiness. Accept that you don't know what you don't know. But despite all your flaws and inefficiencies — it's still worth having you around, and it'd be okay if things were better for you.
Establish your aim.
Get clear on where you want to be in life AND where you don't want to be 3-5 years from now. This will help your reticular activating system make better decisions on what stability it needs to sacrifice in the present to gain in the future. This "vision" you will continually refine over time, so save it. It's okay if it sucks at first, it will get better.
Remember that we were built to overcome adversity, not just peace and happiness. If we lived in a utopia the first thing we'd do is smash it into bits. Your best strategy is to make a decision and adopt the highest responsibility you can.
