The End of Aimlessness: 5 Points Jordan Peterson Suggests To Move Towards Your Purpose
James Noble

Do you feel aimless?

I watched a video interview with Dr. Jordan Peterson about aimlessness I thought was insightful:

Question: How do I deal with aimlessness?

Dr. Peterson's response:

1. When you feel aimless, you become anxious.

-It's not because you have no options, it's because you have too many options and don't know which path to take.

2. Positive emotion comes when you decrease the distance between yourself and your goal.

-Consequently, if you don't have a goal, you have no positive emotion.

3. You need a goal.

You can have whatever you want in 5 years, but there are 2 conditions:

1. You have to know what it is.
2. You have to aim for it.

4. Think about what you want for each aspect of your life.

-Write down the steps you need to take to get there.

-Almost all the positive emotional reward lies in moving toward the goal.

-Do this:
1. Set a goal that is on the edge of conceivability for you
2. Every step you take towards that will give you a little kick of reward which will make you stronger.
3. Keep moving forward.

5. This is the end of aimlessness.

Do you have a story about how you moved from aimlessness toward finding your purpose?
