1. "No great thing is created suddenly." -Epictetus

Great wealth is created over decades. The more you try to speed up the process, the less effective you will be. The best way to build your wealth is to become a part-owner of great businesses and allow them to compound your capital over several years.

"Nobody wants to get rich slow." - Buffett

2." Far and away, the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." - Teddy Roosevelt

Are the businesses you invest in doing work worth doing? Do people want to work there?

What about personally? Are you proud of the work you're doing? Are you engaged or just along for the ride?

3. "Too many companies believe people are interchangeable. Truly gifted people never are. They have unique talents. Such people cannot be forced into roles they are not suited for, nor should they be. Effective leaders allow great people to do the work they were born to do." - Warren Bennis

People are among the least fungible resources in this world. Celebrate uniqueness. Leaders should put people in a position to maximize their unique talents.

4. "Never be limited by other people's limited imaginations." - Mae Jemison

You limit others when you place labels on them. We should avoid specific labels (John is my smart kid, Sally is my funny kid, etc.) and instead praise effort. We are so much more than the labels people assign us.

Don't place limits on others, and don't allow others to place limits on you.

5. "You can and should set your own limits and clearly articulate them. This takes courage, but it is also liberating and empowering, and often earns you new respect." - Roz Brewer

Quote 4 tells us to avoid limitations that others place on us. Quote 5 discusses the benefits of setting our own limits.

One way to set limits is to score yourself. Is what you're doing working? Placing limits on yourself helps you hold yourself accountable.
