🟧 Context : Barça is traditionally a club owned by the members (144,000).

The members vote to elect the president.

But also the major orientations (like selling shares).

A bit like a real world #DAO.

The pandemic hit the Catalan club hard.

They had to sell shares in #BarçaStudios, their "digital content" arm.

They sold 24.5% of the shares to two #Web3 companies (#Socios and #OrpheusMedia).

This could be huge for Orpheus and Socios, as well as for #cryptos as a whole.

Because Barça is a well-known entity taking the Web3 turn.

🟩 Here's the program:

1 - NFT sales and maybe also a ticketing system based on #NFT

2 - The animation of the club token $BAR

And maybe more.Very recently. In fact yesterday.

3 - Barça and Real have registered a brand in the #Metaverse.

Their probable roadmap?

Activities like :

🔸 a #crypto #wallet,

🔹 virtual goods

🔺 and "virtual reality software" - which could represent anything from metaverse stadium tours to games.

🟦 The ultimate goal?

Create new sources of profit and improve feedback and their relationship with fans.

This could be the great opportunity of the century for Barça...

...or its worst mistake.

Remember, Barça is almost bankrupt and needs cash fast

And...

📍 1 - We're in the middle of crypto winter (despite the recent rise in the ether)

📍 2 - Falling sales of #NFTs and declining interest in the #Metaverse

📍3 - The $BAR token which has fallen from $53.64 to near its ICO price of $6.30.

📌 My point of views :

Barca is an incredible playground to demonstrate the strengths of #Web3.

But the current environment could result in failure.

The failure of Barça would then become the thorn in the side of Web3.

This could slow down the adoption of technologies in general.
