I talk about language learning, tech, and lifelong learning | Experienced programmer and language student 🇫🇷 🏴 🇷🇺 🇮🇹
Making high-quality Anki language flashcards takes so long it kills the habit entirely.
I'm not just talking about making simple flashcards with the words in your source and target language. I'm talking about high-quality flashcards with rich context to help you strengthen your memory.
So my ideal flashcards set for a single word would contain :
• one recognition flashcard : from the word in your native language + one illustration, find the word in target language + the pronounciation
• the reverse equivalent
• a "Cloze" flashcard with a sentence containing your word
The point is, making such flashcards manually takes forever. You have to find an audio version of your word pronounced, an image, and a sentence, and put all this together.
This can quickly discourage you from making flashcards at all.
I was in this situation, so I built a little tool to do exactly that :
Just paste a list of words in your target language, and the tool will create and export an Anki deck with highly contextual flashcards just described above.
Since I started building my decks with this tool, creating flashcards every day takes no more than two minutes. This leaves me much more time than before to focus on learning more words and practicing the language.
Curious to see if you've faced the same problem, and what you think of the solution !
