I Like Raw Baby Carrots But Sometimes They Taste Like Chemical. Heres What I Do To Limit That Taste
Jeremy Patrick McKay

That taste comes from a high concentration of a volatile compound known as terpenoids.

It is possible the off tasting carrot was harvested too early. Since baby carrots are not actually young carrots but cut carrots made to look young. It is difficult to know if the carrot was harvested too early.

Sometimes it is only one, or two carrots that are taste weird.

Here's what I do to limit that taste:

  1. Wash the carrots one more time with cold water.

  2. Put them in a water-tight container.

  3. Cover them with water

  4. Add a dash of salt about a 1/4 teaspoon

  5. Shake them up and put them back in the fridge

After this salt bath, each carrot has the same consistent taste with just a hint of salt.
