Did you know!

The neurons that regulate and moderate your breathing, also control and moderate three other fundamental aspects: your alertness, wakefulness, and anxiety?

This is how your breath directly influences not just your thought process, but your brain, your mental status, emotions, and how you experience life.

Exercises to Unleash Your Breathing Power

There are various types of breathing techniques, from basic to advanced practices to enhance your life and bring you health and wellbeing:

Breath Watching – Being aware, and noticing the sensation caused by the passage of your breath.

Method: Be conscious of your inhalation and exhalation, paying attention to the rhythm of your belly and organs as you breath in and out.

Slow Breathing – Activate the vagus nerves which calms the body, regulate and slow down heart rate, decreasing blood pressure.

Method: Inhale for four counts, hold for four counts. Exhale for four counts, hold for four counts – this is one circle. Repeat this for few minutes daily.

Deep Breathing – Here your body and its vital organs are receiving and utilising the oxygen you inhale during normal or right breathing. To see if you’re breathing right - your stomach should expand when you inhale, and contract when you exhale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5m6tMjcF8k&t=195s

Here's a poem where Sadhguru is describing the beauty and possibility of breath:

Poem - Devine Hand

As I see the seemingly

perpetual play of breath

The breath: the maker

of my body

The taker

of my being

When the timely

moment comes

This ceaseless play

of the unseen hand

of the Devine

Me firmly held the hand

And the maker

could not escape
