3 Challenges I Faced By Becoming My Own Avatar For My Writing Business Changed How I Write My Essays
John Harmer

I broke free from external expectations and my thinking when I listed my true interests and wrote from personal passion.

I read an article by Dan Koe that suggested being my own avatar and writing about what interested me. I thought about that for a while then tried it out.

My results are limited so far but I feel liberated. I don't have to care what other people expect me to write about any more.

There have been plenty of challenges. Here are just 3 of them.

1. Combating External Expectations:

Becoming my own avatar meant breaking free from external expectations.

To carve my own path and showcase my true interests and strengths. This led to some skepticism from readers who were used to reading my usual stuff.

Overcoming this challenge required consistently delivering quality work that showed my unique voice and perspective.

2. Overcoming Self-Doubt:

While breaking away from external expectations was liberating, it also made me doubt my decision.

As my authentic self, I became vulnerable to criticism. It was a constant battle to believe in my abilities and stay true to my voice. Over time, I learned to embrace my uniqueness and understand that not everyone will resonate with my style.

I focused on cultivating a supportive network of those that think like me.

3. Balancing Personal Passion with Market Demand:

One of the biggest challenges I faced was finding a balance between my personal passion and the market demand.

While it was important to write about topics I genuinely cared about, I also needed to ensure that my writing resonated with my target audience. Which did change of course and s still changing. But now I write for an audience that actually likes what i write

By staying informed and listening to positive comments I was able to maintain my authenticity.

Being my own avatar has been a transformative, no doubt. But ultimately rewarding.
