The Framework Explainer
A framework that revolutionised how I turn observations into actionable advice is the "Observation to Advice" Framework.
Before creating this framework, I often struggled to turn my observations into practical advice. Inspired by Derek Sivers’ “Just Tell Me What to Do,” I adapted his approach for giving advice. Since then, this framework has transformed how I communicate and offer guidance, making my advice clearer and more actionable.
Here’s my step-by-step guide to getting started with the "Observation to Advice" Framework:
Step 1: Observation
Start by noting down the observation or situation you want to address.
Step 2: Identify the Core Insight
Determine the main point or takeaway from your observation.
Step 3: Determine the Impact
Think about how this insight affects behaviour or outcomes.
Step 4: Simplify the Language
Put the main point into simple terms that anyone can understand.
Step 5: Translate into Action
Turn the simplified insight into a clear, actionable step.
Step 6: Ensure Clarity and Brevity
Make sure your advice is short, clear, and easy to follow.
Implement this in your life and I guarantee you will see fantastic results (just like me).
