It took me more than a year to embrace my worth as a coach.
I thought to myself "I'm not ready."
However, I learned that embracing my worth is not about eliminating self-doubt - it's about embracing the process of growing.
Here are 3 actions that helped me embrace my coaching growing pains:
#1 Ask for Feedback from Coaches and Clients
Want to know your strengths and what to improve?
Each month, I asked my clients what they enjoyed about our sessions and what they'd like to see change.
I asked 2 coaches I trusted to help with 2 things: (a) share 2 of my strengths and 1 area I can improve on, and (b) have weekly check-ins about my progress.
I still tremble when asking for feedback, but this helps me see where I'm strong and what to improve to be a better coach.
#2 Keep Learning and Asking Questions
I know some things, and there's much that I don't, so I asked questions.
I purchased sessions to train with my friend/mentor, Patrick Spoesto. He's a master in customer service and making exercises easy-to-understand, while achieving results.
I interviewed 7 of the most successful trainers I admired. I asked about their training philosophies and what they consider are best practices for coaches.
These answers built my foundation and reassured me doubt is a normal part of growing as a coach.
#3 Practice, Practice, Practice.
Sounds cliché, but like exercising, practice grows our skills.
When I first implemented what I learned, the self-doubt crept in. However, as I continued to cycle these 3 actions, I started to believe in myself.
Like many of the trainers I interviewed, I can now say "I know I can help my clients because I put in the work to learn what I know. I know it works."
