How to Get Crystal Clear Career Clarity So You Can Stop Wasting Time And Get Onto The Right Career Path
Joyce West

I love helping my clients, friends, and just about anyone, get career clarity. When you know where you're going and why you want to go there, nothing can stop you.

When clients come to me, they admit that they are having a hard time figuring out where to start. They oftentimes have analysis paralysis because while they hate their current job, current boss, or are totally in the wrong role, they also don't know what they really wanted to do either.

The dead giveaway that someone is ridiculously confused about their career if when they have made 2-3 lateral moves across 7-10 years, but just can't seem to break out of the Manager ranks.

The way things are going, the best they can ever aspire to is being in middle management (and probably not until middle age).

So, if you are trying to get clarity on your career goals, here are some of the best ways to get started:

  1. Read This Book: Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans will teach you how to apply design thinking so that you can be the Product Manager of You 2.0.

  1. Watch This Video: The Designing Your Life TED Talk is a quick summary of the main principles in the Designing Your Life book. If the video resonates with you, definitely buy the book and go through the exercises.

  1. Take My Career Clarity Workshop Online Course: Ready to take action? Take my online course on Career Clarity. You'll get 3 hours of homework - personality tests, assessments, and customized questionnaires I've developed. The course will show you how to interpret the results of the tests, and you'll get 30 minutes of career clarity coaching from me.

  1. Get The 9 Essential Steps To Land Your Ideal Job Guide: In this guide, find 9 simple ideas to get out of your current job and onto a career path that lights you up. Some of these steps only take a few minutes.

  1. Talk To A Career Coach: Sometimes you can't see your own blind spots, or you may be mulling something in your head forever, and really just need to verbally process it or have a sounding board. Most coaches offer a free discovery call; I'd be happy to talk about your career strategy when you book a call with me.

  1. Do an Annual Life Review: You might think your job is the problem, but it might be your entire life. Find out by doing Steve Schlafman's Annual Life Review. I've done it for the last 5 years and it's an incredible resource. When you know yourself, your career path also comes into focus. Also his Medium article on his approach is awesome.

These 6 resources will exponentially accelerate your learning process.
