From the Trenches to a Global Community
by juandav.eth

Have you ever felt stuck, unsure how to connect with others who share your passion? During the pandemic, I found myself in this exact situation. I felt like I was in a trench.

My journey with Ethereum began with Ethereum Bogotá in June 2020. A friend and I were passionate about teaching people how to use Ethereum and develop smart contracts. During the pandemic, Zoom calls became our lifeline.

After the isolation, attending Devconnect Amsterdam was a revelation. That Ethrereum festival in 2022, was unlike anything I had seen before. It offered a chance to meet like-minded people, share ideas and collaborate. The energy at those gatherings were palpable.

The virality of Ethereum communities comes from the idea that once an idea clicks in your mind, you naturally seek out others who share that spark. Ethereum’s vision resonates with many, creating a global network of enthusiasts.

The transition from Zoom calls to in-person events allowed me to expand my horizons and build meaningful connections. Today, Ethereum events are held worldwide.

What started in the trenches of a pandemic has evolved into a journey through the open air of global collaboration. See you in November at Devcon7 SEA in Bangkok!
