This is the significance of habits in our lives if you are serious about change. A small change in our habits will lead to a completely different way, as a result of the compound effect.

Most of the unique habits are unknown or underrated. You have to know and start to follow those habits to make your life better and the way you want.

It is important to predict the journey as well as the habits. You should also be aware of your upcoming consequences, while you're adopting or replacing some habits.

It's no wonder that it’s going to be lonely sometimes. Those lonely times will only define how strong you are. So, here are the uncommon habits for loners in their journey of recovery by a loner who crossed that journey.

This article will serve as a map or system for your journey. It will also provide and motivate you to develop exceptional habits & how to face your cravings and the consequences of your solitary journey.

Craving stage: This is the hardest stage in the process of recovering.

Ask "why" often. Find out the real reason. The young orphan asked himself why to his addictions, and answered it was to escape from his childhood tragedies like:

Lost his parents in a road accident.
Fear of facing society.
Feeling insecure and lonely when he saw other parents.
Intolerance to accept his situation.
No support in embarrassing situations.

The relief from craving is the only reward. To get relief from this stage, following 2 habits with persistence is significant.

Habit #1: Journaling the Situation

Recall your wounds from the past. Those terrifying thoughts you never want to think about again. Look back at it and write it in a detailed manner.

No wonder you will face hell. The young orphan’s forehead was sweating, his hands were trembling, his sighs were faster and he couldn’t even gulp. But, don’t stop. Continue writing, though.

This will make the problem even more clear. So that you don’t even need to rethink it again.

Habit #2: Facing the Emotions

Try self-awareness meditation. Being aware of your emotions. Judging and condemning his thoughts or emotions for years, the young orphan watched it as an observer. What happens to you here?

As you listen to the thought, you feel a conscious presence. Then, the thought will lose its power and subside you. You are no longer energizing the thought or emotion to get identified by it. This is the beginning of the end of compulsive thinking.

This is the moment, you are choosing happiness over pleasure.

You will face this when you journal. Once you can’t control it beyond that, do this.

The only hardest thing to do at this stage is bear, face, and accept your past and cravings.

Abstinence stage: This is the most underestimated stage, where you can relapse easily. You might think you could cross this stage, but it’s more difficult than you think.

But, this is a wonderful stage to get distracted. The orphan got engaged or distracted by some other habits. The habits that he wishes every addict to follow are:

Habit #3: Solo riding

Take your cycle or bike or car. Take a solo trip on weekends or a solo ride for 1 hour every day.

Don’t just try to complete the journey. Try to explore places, the culture, and the architecture of your surroundings. And, don’t forget to take slight breaks to breathe slowly & enjoy mother nature. If you have a fear of going alone, start from the places you’ve already gone but not explored.

Solo travelling is the best way to get distracted by the chaos and face the fear of survival.

Habit #4: Capture the small moments

Capture by photography, drawings, or paintings. Choose your favourite method of capture. Capturing these small moments makes you enjoy your loneliness and hold on to your memories.

Make it a habit. Don’t just do it for the sake of loneliness. Do it while you’re traveling, during your morning tea or coffee, when you see something you can’t blink your eyes at, or when the sunshine falls on your sculpture in your home.

If you are already enjoying the small moments of your life, CONGRATULATIONS! You chose to live happily rather than to live a pleasurable life, every moment of it.

Recovery stage:

This is the stage where your discipline and consistency will pay you off. Your side effects and traumas will start to get going off.

Learning a new skill is a very wise and significant idea at this stage. The orphan chose a life skill that’s going to help him throughout his life. Communication skill. A must-known skill for everyone who can speak. He learned that skill by making it a habit of :

Habit #5: Talk to someone new every day or week

Learn to tell a story, listen and reply. These learnings will help you master this habit.

The world is packed with 8 billion people. Though there are geographical constraints, you can use apps like Cambly, meetme, bumble, etc. The orphan started to build relationships by talking to the people he was facing in his daily life. Like, from the tea master and his bike and car mechanic to his colleague and HR.

By doing this habit, you will create your environment. You will create a very different environment compared to your old one, where you were facing traumas and crying all day.

The goal of this habit is to feel the change and support your recovery stage by making your surroundings better consistently.

Never miss twice. Do it regularly. Don’t expect to be perfect at these habits initially. Things may fall apart on this journey. But, never forget that time will heal everything. Just trust the process and GO ON & ON.
