I was always a slow writer and struggled with perfectionism. But I have found 3 key strategies that have helped me write around 700 words per hour.
As a beginner writer, 20 days into the process, these are the 3 writing strategies that have helped me the most.
1. Write whatever you want without thinking about editing.
I could never follow this advice properly. However, due to some family pressure recently, I decided to implement it and write without concern for editing. As a result, I wrote 700 words in one hour.
2. “Let me just write it, and I am not going to post it.”
Knowing that I’m not going to post the writing gives me the assurance that it doesn’t matter how it turns out. This helps me overcome perfectionism.
3. Time the writing.
Timing my writing sessions helps me focus solely on writing, without getting distracted by thoughts of posting or editing.
TL;DR:
•Don’t think about editing.
•Don’t think about posting.
• Time the writing period.
