It's spring again—time for open windows, fresh air, and sweet sounds.

On their latest EP, Guided Imagery, the LA-based band bring the perfect soundtrack. If you went into a lab, and fused the best elements of My Bloody Valentine and Lush, Mo Dotti is what you'd end up with. They're still the poppy shoegazers from 2020's Blurred record, but this EP has a shinier, sunnier sound.

It's lighter, even if the guitars sometimes try to tell you otherwise.

The guitars switch between jangly and slightly menacing, but that melodic sugar spike you've come to expect is never far away.

On the opening track, "Loser Smile," Gina Negrini's fantastic vocals are slightly obscured by a swirling cloud of guitars that would make even Kevin Shields nod approvingly. Later, they lend their energetic treatment to The 6th's, "All Dressed Up In Dreams," with Negrini the sun and the music orbiting around her.

The combination makes for an EP that never slows down.

Shoegaze often treads a fine line between pop perfection and becoming a wall of noise.

In the quest for an intricate melody, bands can go a bridge too far (no pun intended). That doesn't happen here. With its easy-breezy sound and 6 single-ready songs, Mo Dotti does well to stay on the right side of the line.

Using well-crafted songs and balanced sound, the band create lush soundscapes and evoke images of beautiful summer days.
