Book Review - ‘The Three Mistakes of My Life' - By Chetan Bhagat
Khushi Jain

Chetan Bhagat's book "Three Mistakes of My Life" relates the fictional story to a real incident that took place in India. It recounts the life of three youths, Ishan, Omi, and Govind of Ahmedabad, who end up making three mistakes. It has covered their struggles in their real lives and how they overcame them to achieve their life goals in this turbulent, fast-paced city.

We all think of Bhagat's editions as romantic. However, this book comes across as dark, with many enlightening issues and learning aspects, which has sparked my curiosity in picking this up. The novel's main characters were ambitious, passionate, and inspiring enough. Not only that, but he has clubbed everything together; religion, politics, love, aspirations, sacrifice, and misery to give us the flavours of our country, India. I didn’t like the movie much because it seemed boring to me. But I adore the fact that Chetan Bhagat always writes about Indians. One of the most impressive aspects of his novels is how 'Desi' they are. According to Bhagat, the government could have done better for the young workforce to help them reach greater heights in life.

The famous quote from the book: "And tell me, who will be more successful in life? The kid who knows all the chemical formulae or the one who knows teamwork, passion, discipline, and focus? "

"Time heals everything slowly but steadily," is the only message. There will be times when you make mistakes, some as big as elephants and some as small as ants. The only thing on which you can rely is "time."

If you haven't already, I recommend you read it. This book has also been adapted into a Bollywood film, "Kai Po Che," to give you an idea of what it is about.
