Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, (1990) is the best book ever written on how to achieve exhilaration and total involvement in your life.
If you've read it, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.
But if you haven't, here's some of the principles you can tap into:
Reason #1: Consciously Focus Your Attention
Flow teaches that it is what we pay attention to that determines the information we allow into our consciousness and that determines the quality of our life. The book teaches you how to focus attention at will.
Reason #2: Stretch Yourself To The Limit
Csikszentmihalyi says that we have to be stretched to our limits to accomplish something difficult in order to feel ultimate happiness.
Reason #3: Increase Your Complexity
Following the achievement of a flow state, the self is left more complex than before. Complexity is the result of two psychological processes: differentiation and integration. The more flow, the more unique and original you become.
I've benefited greatly by understanding the principles of optimal experience. This book will make you look at happiness and creativity in a whole new way.
