Amazon Prime Day is right around the corner and with every influencer compiling a list of items you need to buy, you might feel the need to buy, buy, buy. Instead of getting caught up in the hype on the day, here are five steps to control your spending.
Write down how much you can spend by reviewing what you will need to spend on food, rent, savings, and other bills this month.
List the things you want from most important to least. If getting a new desk chair is a priority, put it as the number one thing on your list. If getting a Ninja Creami isn't as important, put it further down.
Go pre-sale shopping and write down the going price for those items to get a pre-sale baseline. You can even save the item you got the price from in your "saved for late" folder on Amazon.
Calculate the total of all the items on your list and draw a line under the last item you could buy while staying within budget.
On the day of the sale, compare the sale prices of items on your list to the pre-sale price. Are you getting a good deal? Is the item on sale? Amazon has deals every day, so if an item isn't on sale on Prime Day, you might be able to snag it another time for a better price.
Remember, keep an eye on your budget and don't let the marketing pressure you to buy everything. Some things can wait until next time. Happy shopping! :)
