My takeaway: True then, true now, true always. If a company doesn't sell... the rest of it is simply noise. Who cares how good you are at the "doing"... if you don't have enough customers.

Big improvement in NPS score - Cool ... where are sales at?
Great hire - Excellent ... where are sales at?
IT upgrade - Super ... where are sales at?
Businesses can get complicated, for sure, but everything ultimately comes back to sales... "or else".
