Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the most in demand skill to strive for the unforeseeable future along our Ai companion. I have been implementing daily habits for the past 3 years to increase my EI.
Along the way, I have done all sorts of things to try to get better:
Read books like The book of Joy by the Dalai Lama & Desmond Tutu- one of the best book I read to understand how important acceptance of our emotions is
Listen to podcasts like “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” and “The Rich Roll Podcast” to explore life’s emotions and gain deeper self-understanding.
Personality tests to Increase self-awareness like Ray Dalio's PrincipalYouAssesment or 16 personalities
And all of these things helped me a ton.
They enabled me to develop my own morning routine. If I had to start all over again, I would directly leverage my simple 3 Step framework I have develop as my morning routine to increase my self-awareness, my self-regulation and empathy:
Step 1: Journaling
This helps me capture my morning emotions. I include a three-step gratitude practice in my journaling to cultivate an abundance mindset.
Step 2: Meditate
I meditate daily since 2.5 years and this quiet time in the morning has teach me more about myself than any books, podcasts, courses.... Being an observant of one's emotions is the key to develop self-awareness and empathy for others.
Step 3: Set intentions for the Day
Setting intentions has transformed my life. It sets the tone for the day, helps me achieve my goals, and provides a unique motivation boost that can inspire others.
When you're first starting out, developing small habits every day to foster this skill is all that matters.
