How to Make Your Own 30-Day Personal Growth Challenge
Luke Rowley, PE 🚢

A while back I decided to try Andy Frisella's 75 Hard challenge. Every day for 75 days in a row I:

  • Completed (2) 45-minute workouts, one being outside

  • Followed a diet (which for me was limiting portion sizes and cutting sugar)

  • Drank 1 gallon of water

  • Took a progress picture

  • Read 10 pages of a non-fiction book

To say that it was life-changing would be an understatement. I learned that I can push myself harder than I ever imagined. One of my favorite changes was that I didn't like desserts as much anymore. I was much healthier by the end of it.

But the biggest difference it made was that it showed me how powerful it can be to commit to a few critical tasks for multiple days in a row. What I would call a personal growth challenge.

A few weeks after finishing 75 Hard, I made a similar commitment to all of my current goals for each of the main pillars of life. It helped me grow even more than 75 Hard had. Here are the steps I used to set it up, which you can use to create your own personal growth challenge:

  1. Pick 5 critical tasks, one in each area of life including spiritual, social, financial, and physical plus one additional that will help facilitate the rest. For me, the extra was waking up early.

  2. Choose a number of days that you want to stick to these tasks every day in a row. I chose 84 days because that's the same time period in which I set goals.

  3. Set up a tracking system. This could be on a spreadsheet, in an app, or just with pen and paper. Set recurring reminders on your phone to complete your tasks at the ideal time of day for each one.

  4. Commit to completing every one of the tasks every day for your chosen time period.

  5. Watch your life change in ways you'd never imagined possible.

Repeat the process as many times as you like. I'd recommend taking a break after each challenge for a week or so and then committing to another one if you feel ready for it and life circumstances are permitting.

Chances are, you're not living up to your full potential. But by following this process, you'll learn things about yourself that you never knew. Things will show you how to reach your maximum potential in life and accomplish the unimaginable.
