My compering scripts and speeches I deliver are just about always vetted.
The event manager usually wants my running sheet script about a week in advance. I volunteer to provide a draft if they don't. The reality is that there is some ad-libbing on the day, but the organiser can get a sense of my style when they go through my script.
They will always offer edits or redirects.
My style of delivery is not apparent in the script(it's deadpan, BTW) and so some lines need context.
My risky take on some things can be a high-wire act on the night and so best to double-check with those who pay the money. They know their audience best.
We should have no fear of sharing our work before the event. If nothing else, it helps to confirm the running sheet.
