I've tried to pull together the threads of my careers - from linguist to teacher to academic to administrator to digital writer.

I've tried to join the dots to see what picture it draws.

I've come up with nothing.

It just seems like a happenstance of circumstances.

I suppose I need to delve deeper into each role and pull out elements that made up the roles. Then see if I can't draw a connecting line between a few components. Draw a connection that way.

I'm reading a biography of Dr Claire Weekes, an Australian academic, whose career went from a zoologist to a singer to a travel writer to a psychologist. Her ultimate fame was to develop a treatment for anxiety. And it was her career pre-history that contributed to the identification of the solution.

Like one of those colour blind tests where the mosaic reveals a different coloured number - if you're not colour blind - I'm hoping my number reveals itself at some stage soon.
