Your Depression Is Valid
Mariafernanda Martinez🧢

Read the title. Now reread it. Your Depression Is Valid. This statement is something I had to tell myself multiple times when battling with my depression. I felt my feelings weren't valid because I would compare them to others and see that their problems were way worse than mine. I can't be depressed. I have everything I have in life, and my issues don't compare to what this person is going through, I thought. Well, that's where I was wrong. Everyone has the right to be sad about something, no matter how minimal it is. Undermining our problems is not solving them. This feeling of guilt that we get for feeling sad is not okay. Everyone struggles with their problems, and it affects their lives. Just because your problem is not as big as another person's doesn't mean your situation will affect them too. Own up to it. Feel what you need to feel. Your depression is valid. Learn not to compare yourselves to others because it will not do you any good. What do you solve when you compare? Nothing. Your problem is still there, and now you have guilt. Feeling the emotion caused by something is fundamental to get through the issue. Remember this sentence when you compare your problems to another person. Your Depression Is Valid.
