Are You Chasing After Borrowed Goals?
Mariel Diaz

You've probably already set your goals for 2026. But have you paused for a moment to ask yourself: Is this actually my goal, or is this what I think I should want?

There's a difference between goals that light you up and goals that look good on paper.

The ones that are truly yours? They energize you. Ideas flow naturally. The work doesn't feel like work. You naturally have energy for it. You wake up wanting to make progress.

The borrowed ones? They feel heavy. You have to talk yourself into caring. You need external motivation to keep going. Your body resists. You procrastinate without understanding why.

This resistance isn't a character flaw. It's your inner wisdom protecting you from wasting energy on someone else's vision.

Take a look at the goals you're working toward this year and check in with yourself.

Does this goal light you up or make you feel heavy? Does thinking about it increase your energy or drain it? Does it feel like obligation or excitement?

The goals that are truly yours will energize you. The borrowed ones will drain you. Choose wisely.
