It's not easy staying present.
Especially when your working towards goals in the future. You think often, 'If I make X amount of money, I'll be happy.' 'If I have this X, I'll be happy',...
But anytime you're living more in the future than in the present, just turn back to these 6 simple quotes (to remind you this is the only thing that matters):
“Do not ruin today with mourning tomorrow.” ― Catherynne M. Valente
There's just no point in worrying endlessly about tomorrow; you don't know what tomorrow will bring. You only have now.
"Children have neither a past nor a future. Thus they enjoy the present, which seldom happens to us.” — Jean de La Bruyère
Remind yourself how freeing it was when you were a kid. That state of mind is not gone, most of us have just lost it.
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.” — Alice Morse Earle
The past will never return, the future will never exists, it all happens in your mind right now. Start enjoying the now, it is a great present.
“Today is our most precious possession. It is our only sure possession.” - Dale Carnegie
Amen to that. And I would go a step further and change 'Today' to 'Now'.
"Forever is composed of nows." – Emily Dickinson
There is no forever, only the now.
“Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now. That is precious indeed. The more you are focused on time—past and future—the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.” — Eckhart Tolle
Read this quote 3 times to let it sink in deeply.
