Last week you learned the step-by-step guide to creating a content flywheel.

This week, I'll show you a framework that altered how I write proven long-form content from short content.

When I learned the writer flywheel to create content, I started writing long-form content from some ideas I had. I would release the idea out to the world, and wait for feedback.

In the end, most of them were a waste of time.

How could I filter out most of the content no one will read to start creating content that raises some eyebrows? Without spending too much time or effort?

I started to publish short-form content based on outlines with the ideas I wanted to test.

This framework helped to publish proven engaging content. Saving me tons of hours in the evening in stuff no one will glance their eyes on.

Here’s my step-by-step guide to creating proven long-form content:

Step 1: Write a post with some outlines

From the content flywheel, you should know what topics you want to write.

Pick a platform. It can be X - my current preference, or Medium - where I want to try next. Write a post with your main outlines.

If it is steps (step 1, step 2, step 3), if it is lessons (lesson 1, lesson 2, lesson 3) and so on.

This newsletter came from a short outline I published back in July.

Insert the first sentence hook, and a conclusion, and press publish.

Step 2: Publish, and get feedback

Once you publish the short-form content, you wait for feedback.

This works only if you're writing where there's an audience. It has to be a social platform. If the outline has a lot of engagement, you found something. It is time to prove this wasn't a one-off.

This is where the content flywheel plays its part.

You take the comments and you check if that point is worth expanding. You can expand it by writing a personal story, tips, you name it.

You create another short-form with that and you publish again.

Step 3: Validate ideas

I often do step 2, two to five times.

I'm following my content flywheel. I'm creating content based on feedback I receive on the short forms. One of the reasons I want to start writing short forms on Medium is to speed up this process.

It is a different platform with a different audience. The results are more diversified which further proves if your idea is good or not.

What's crazy about this process is you'll have a huge library of ideas you could further expand and write.

All because of the effect of the flywheel

Step 4: Write a thread or long form for your Newsletter

From this content library, pick the content you want to write.

Since it is proven content, you'll know it will have reads. It's not guaranteed it'll go viral (not even close) but surely will get you one step closer. Besides, you'll find fans of your work.

I know because I did.

In this last step, you will expand on that short content. This could be your next Newsletter issue, a Long-form post on any other platform, an ebook, or an email course. It's your choice.

These frameworks have worked so well for me in the past couple of months. Now it is time to share them with my dear subscribers.
