Yes, I know, I'm going on about ADHD. And, no, it isn't my only interest (ha! hardly!). But there are many misconceptions about it and this is my tiny effort to setting the record straight.

First: ADHD is a misnomer. Someone with ADHD doesn't have an attention deficit, they have an attention dysregulation.

Also, it's not a disorder but a normal neurological variation that used to be a lot more prevalent than it is today.

According to the Night Watchman theory the ADHD brain is perfect for hunting and keeping vigil while others slept. Very useful in the stone age. My take is that agriculture started an evolutionary selection pressure against it, which may be why we now see it in only ~10% of people.

People with ADHD brains often feel like they were born on a different planet. It's an apt description. We don't think the way neurotypicals do. And no, our brains are not defective. Our brains work perfectly well. It just uses different rules.
