This is Day 1 of an effort to write more consistently online.
Here are a few reasons why:
I write a lot, but almost all of it is for clients. That's great — it's how I pay the bills. But it also means I'm not promoting my own business.
Since writing is a tool for learning and thinking, not writing means I'm shortchanging my personal and professional growth opportunities.
Writing and publishing short pieces online is a great way to practice digital writing fundamentals — writing concisely, crafting headlines, creating hooks, etc. Even after decades of professional writing, continuing to hone my skills is important.
Finally, I'm happiest when I invest time in writing for myself. There's something about starting the day writing for myself that makes me calmer, less stressed, more focused and more productive.
Over the next 30 days, I plan to write about writing, marketing and productivity for professional marketers. I may throw in posts about business or other topics, too.
To keep myself accountable, I've joined the Ship 30 for 30 digital writing course (details here, plus a 30-day free trial and 50% off if you want to sign up).
If I write something that you like or makes you think, please like, comment, share or let me know in some way.
