I recently signed up for a digital writing course, SHIP 30 for 30, with Nick Cole and Dickie Bush. One of the goals is to help participants build a consistent writing habit by publishing something online for 30 consecutive days.

As someone new to online writing, the idea of publicly posting an essay—every day for 30 days—was honestly terrifying. What would I write about? Would I have enough to say that others might find interesting or helpful?

It turns out... I do. In fact, I have more ideas than I thought! And maybe even more importantly, this course is helping me overcome my fear of sharing my voice online.

But it’s more than just hitting "publish." I’m learning to be more open, more consistent—and less anxious with achieving perfection. There’s something liberating about writing and sharing without the pressure of everything being so polished.

Other lessons I'm embracing:

• Staying committed builds confidence - Posting for 30 consecutive days is not easy but I see the value of making the effort to show up every day--something I can apply to other parts of my life too.

• Writing online is a powerful connector - I've enjoyed connecting with others who share similar interests.

• Motivation is a must - The encouragement from the SHIP 30 community has kept me motivated. It's a great reminder that a supportive network or community is critical in any life journey.

I look forward to continuing to learn even more lessons from my SHIP 30 experience.
