I interviewed for 5 positions received offers from all 5.
Here are my best interview tips for fellow pharmacy students looking to apply for pre-registration pharmacist positions:
Be genuine and passionate: Your knowledge and skills will be comparable to most other applicants. They're all qualified pharmacy graduates. Being genuine makes you likeable. Passion is what differentiates.
Have fun during the interview: It’s hard, I know. But if it’s a work culture you really enjoy, you will have fun, and it’ll automatically bring the best out of you, without you even realising.
Demonstrate critical thinking: Especially in how you can benefit the company. Unique, reasonable thinking can find critical, overlooked benefits and flaws in business and patient care.
Do your homework: Study the company, their services and products. Study pharmacotherapy, practice codes, legal requirements of your place of practice, and pharmaceutical product life cycles. Prepare answers for common questions.
Feel their vibe: Interviews are an opportunity to find your best candidate-position match. Choose the one that makes you feel excited to begin there.
Be professional: Dress professional, act professional. Typically, business formal is expected for healthcare professionals. Be polite, think in terms of patient-centred care and best practices for a business or healthcare system.
Best of luck to you in your applications!
