The Söderhamn sofa without a doubt is one of IKEA's popular pieces.
We got this sofa a few months after we got married. During that time, I wanted a sofa which ticked the following boxes:
has to be low profile
has to be neutral light colored
3 seater
comfortable seat depth
We didn't have a large budget and so it was a no-brainer that we got this sofa in the first place.
Now, a year later here are the things that I don't like about this sofa:
Because it is low profiled and has a deep seat, I actually find the Söderhamn to be uncomfortable for seating. Perhaps for tall folks it works just fine, but I'm not that tall.
The cushions you seat on are pretty thin and don't provide extra comfort.
After a while, the cushions start looking tired and old. But the good part is you can fluff them up real good and they'll be back to looking great.
After spending a year with this sofa I also realized how customizable it is. There are so many IKEA and non-IKEA options that you can buy extra covers and completely change the look of this sofa.
Overall, would I buy this sofa again? Given it's low price point, customization options and aesthetics I would buy this sofa again. But only if my budget was low.
Do you have this sofa too? What do you think of it?
