There's nothing more heartbreaking than when business owners go to market with an idea or an offer that hasn't been tested and validated prior to launch. The foundation of understanding your audience's needs, validating your concept, iterating based on feedback , and building an ecosystem of visibility in advance of a formal launch is absolutely crucial for success.

Unfortunately, in the development cycle from concept to launch, it's the middle part—testing and validation—that seems to be missing.

So let's talk about how to make this process a lot easier and guarantee a greater measure of success when you're ready to go to market with a formal launch.

1) Build your Minimum Viable Product

What are the minimum functions and features that you need to have in order to deliver the intended outcome for your user? Build that! It's not polished, it's not perfect, but it's functional. Your MVP is intended to gather the maximum amount of data with the minimum amount of effort.

2) Gather your user base

This is a sample of the intended audience for your product or service. You need real people to give you real feedback. Set expectations up front that this is going to be messy, but at the end of the process, you fully intend that they will indeed have what your offer is designed to deliver.

3) Iterate based on feedback

Depending on the user experience, you may need to change things to make your offer stronger. Find the difference between what your intended transformation was and what it actually is, then determine what needs to change to bridge that gap.

Testing and validation allow you to get to market faster with a product that's not as polished but still powerful, allows you to be agile in the development process, is budget-friendly, and gives you the feedback you need to feel confident in your formal launch.
