Why the Wise App is My Essential Tool for Online Banking: Unlocking Low Fees, Multiple Currencies, and Security Since 2011
@_octaviacarney

Today, there is an app, website, or software platform for just about anything (including Venmo - now owned by Paypal - a weirdly popular money transfer app that's largely unsecured).

When it comes to Online Banking, there is 1 app I can't live without since I downloaded it in 2018:

Wise App

And here's why:

  • Reason #1: This UK-based app consistently has the lowest fees for converting currency by using the real exchange rate that banks use to trade between themselves.

  • Reason #2: Wise accounts can hold over 40 different currencies, and it's free to spend any currency you hold.

  • Reason #3: For USD accounts and other currencies, Wise provides the option of multiple digital debit cards you can use as "disposable" cards to keep your primary card details secure.

  • Reason #4: The interface on the app is easy to use and feels more lively than your average banking app, and has no hidden fees.

  • Reason #5: They've recently started offering both personal and business accounts that earn up to 4.18% APY in interest, and customers also receive up to $250,000 in FDIC insurance on their USD balance.

If you don't like to pay bank fees, want a better way to transfer money, or you use multiple currencies, I can't recommend using this app enough after using it regularly for the last six years.
