The king of essentialism & doing only what matters:
Greg Mckeown @GregoryMcKeown
Last week I went through his classic "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit Of Less" again
5 takeaways on how you can stop overwhelm and create the meaningful impact you want ๐งต๐
1/ Essentialists are the most hyperproductive people in the world
They don't do many things but focus on the vital few
They always double down on the 20% that gives 80% of results, effortlessly quadrupling their impact
And eliminate the rest
How to become an essentialist:
2/ Essentialists explore a LOT in the beginning
They make sure to weigh every option in
But they do not commit until the following step:
3/ Essentialist eliminate ruthlessly
If not crucial, it's gone
They know the inevitability of tradeoffs & having a choice. A good question to ask is
"If I did not own/do this, how much would I spend to get it"
This minimalistic approach has huge payoffs in sanity & results
4/ Essentialists execute
They set up routines and can easily focus
They make progress by eliminating bottlenecks & obstacles, rather than hustling
They celebrate the small wins
If you have read so far and is anxious about cutting things out:
5/ Essentialists value more what they have than the reverse
Saying no allows you to say yes to better things
Less clutter means more things in spotlight
Therefore, never think of essentialism as minimizing your life
It removes the noise instead, with enhanced signal
TL;DR
